The Self-Imposed Ties that Bind

Last night I had a dream in which someone that I used to consider a friend came at me with a large pair of scissors. At first I saw the symbolism as a threat to my safety, but quickly realized that it was more about projection and a message relating to binding.

In life, the person in my dream is loud, ‘justice’ oriented and unwavering in his beliefs of what he considers virtuous. His politics and expression are of the dark variety that projects his own guilt and conditioning onto others as if everyone around him suffers from deep seated bigotry and hatred. He, and many like him, literally want people to be divided, but their programming tells them it’s something else. He is bound by his conditioned beliefs and gets confirmation that he is virtuous from others who are under the same spell — and it is a spell– a spell that is designed to invert reality. I can go on about this and I suggest you do your own research into how tech, the media, movies, etc. controls our thinking, but I want to make my point as it relates to binding.

Is your bondage self-imposed?

The scissors in my dream represented the act of cutting free from what binds us and it brought to mind the image of the VIII Swords. This image can represent our inability to grasp our influences and how they often negatively effect us and keep us enslaved. Upon waking, I delved further into this dream message to get a deeper understanding.

As long as we cling to unfound beliefs, go along for the ride with like-minded ‘thinkers’, we can never escape the real pain and turmoil which lies within. Our true anger and pain is not what we choose to see in others, that only functions to deny our spiritual growth and prevents us from understanding something much greater than ourselves. What we project onto others merely divides us and is an insidious distraction from gaining sweet, soul singing knowledge that would destroy all doubt and the imagined hate that some of us choose to think effects every waking moment of our lives.

By working towards creating equilibrium, we can begin to address and solve the things in life that do not serve us. The Temperance card reminds us that a balance of heart and mind will help us to intelligently forge ahead without having to talk over others when our paradigms are at risk. Do we allow our emotions to go haywire, preventing us from achieving equilibrium? Do they blind us to a greater truth and encourage a rage that is disguised as strength, when it is actually fear? Ask yourself how you might be binding yourself from growth or limiting your scope. And are you willingly falling under the spell of a force whose aim is to literally suppress your spirit?

We need to understand when we are being manipulated and when we willingly bind ourselves to certain beliefs and thinking. True freedom will not take place until this is something we become aware of. And like the woman in VIII of Swords card, it may just be a matter of backing up, cutting the cords and using your mind and reason as suggested by Temperance to get closer to what is true.

Are You Missing Out on Valuable Life Lessons?

Have you noticed that so many people think they know everything there is to know about life without having had the real experience or much to base their opinions on? is pretty bad. They increasingly demand that others live according to what they think is right and condemn those who think outside of their horribly limited paradigms, their weakened emotions impel them to project a fascistic behavior onto others in the name of ‘fairness’, but mostly it’s just repeated words they’ve heard in institutations of conditioning and 4am talking points established within the mainstream mockingbird media.

As annoying as these people are, I feel bad for them and often wonder what I can do to broaden their perspective that they can see the proverbial forrest for the trees. I’m still wondering. But with regard to the tarot, they are missing out on what The World card can teach them. The World card is the last in the series of the Major Arcana and represents an enlightened consciousness and the symbolic end down a path of learning and understanding.

When we are presented with this card, it often asks us to determine whether or not we’ve learned lessons while we’ve been on our individual paths. Have we learned from our mistakes? Are we allowing the spark within us to teach us things that the media will always get wrong? Have we built up our intuition or have we just gone along with whatever we’ve been forced fed? The World card demands that the querant look within himself to answer these questions. If we don’t work from within, the joys offered by this card can never be felt or realized, we will continue on the Fool’s Path repeating negative patterns and ultimately falling head first into the abyss.

Q – The Movie

In this series, Seeing The Movies, I will be looking at some of the symbolism and hidden messages in movies and television.

I wanted to start off with a movie that carries a powerful title and a provocative theme. We have to ask ourselves, is this just a monster movie or was the director trying to tell us something about what might actually be going on in the world today? Am I reading more into this than was ever intended? Were his ideas pulled from a collective unconscious that spoke a truth the public is not supposed to know about? We may never know for sure, but it’s fun to look at and I’ll leave it up to time and the reader to decide for themselves.

Q (1982)
Dir. Larry Cohen
Starring: David Carradine, Michael Moriarty, Richard Roundtre

Besides the amazing title, Q, there were a few things here that intrigued me enough to take another look at this film, one of which was the recent sale of the Chrysler Building. I’m a big fan of writer/director Larry Cohen and had seen this film before, but not since the arrival of our favorite Anon.

Q and the Chrysler Building.

Q takes place in New York City and is a modern throwback to 50s-style monster movies. What we have is a giant winged serpent flying around Manhattan killing rooftop sunbathers and construction workers. But oddly, as enormous and plain as day as the creature is, the entire populatioin of Manhattan seems blind to what flies overhead, not seeing what by all accounts is right before their eyes.

We learn from a museum expert that Quetzalcoatl, is an Aztec deity that has been resurrected through ritual murders that are taking place around the city. One character says, “It was prayed back into existence.” and that “Blood must be given willingly for the God to appreciate it.” The creature is finally found to be roosting in the top of Chrysler Building and this is where the final confrontation takes place.

Seeing Q:
Like the inhabitants of Cohen’s New York City, are we not seeing the world around us and what is happening before our very eyes? Are there actual blood sacrifices going on today in efforts to reincarnate an ancient deity or open a portal to allow it reentry? The concept conjures up images of Spirit Cooking, CERN and countless music videos that seem to encourage the idea. I would even go so far as to suggest that late term abortion and Democrat approved infanticide could easily fall under the category of ritual blood sacrifice when compared to this storyline. And if we parallel this with the film which has a character telling us that the blood must be given willingly, that is just what is happening with LTA. Is this really for the ‘health’ of the mother or does the sudden demand for infanticide serve other purposes as they do in Q?

What is the symbolism of a talking mime? Are we getting our infomation from voices who should not be talking?
Q finds a rooftop pyramid to land on.

Conspiracy theorists may note and remember that the star of Q, David Carradine, died under mysterious circumstances in a Bangkok hotel in 2009. Was it really auto erotic asphyxiation as the media claimed or was it something else?

As I mentioned above, just last week, The Chrysler Building was in the news because it sold for only $150 million, an insane loss of about $700 million, a loss suffered due to rising land rent and competition from newer luxury buildings–and in my opinion the decline of New York City.

Michael Moriarty and Dracula.

I will leave you with this last thought. The above photo is a good example of what I consider to be messaging that goes beyond telling the story at hand. Why would an auteur like Larry Cohen or any other thoughtful director include something in a film that had no meaning? What is the purpose of having this large image of Dracula sucking the blood of a victim framed perfectly behind the main character? Is this the type of thing that is going on behind our backs? Are the equivalent of vampires, sucking our life force right out in the open while we, like this main character, flail around grasping for money and material things that we think will bring happiness? Are we so distracted by our greed that we’ve become blind and completely insensitive? It’s telling that early on in the film, this character can’t even take a rare compliment and says, “What do you know?!” instead of simply saying, “Thank you.”.

Just a few things to think about.

Is More Not Enough? What’s Missing? – Book Excerpt

My book, TOXIC RAINBOWS will release this Fall as an ebook.  Enjoy this excerpt.

We are living in a time of relative abundance, excess and opportunity, yet we continue to feel deprived and left wanting for more.  What is it that’s missing? Can it be satisfied by shopping, having another child, redecorating?

This empty feeling and searching for substance is brilliantly depicted in Orson Welles’ classic film Citizen Kane and was more recently explored in Ridley Scott’s All The Money In The World.  We see in these film characters a desperation to possess an unnamable something.  Similarly, we sense a feeling of lack, but don’t know where it’s coming from or know what to fill it with.

We often falsely base success and privilege on material gains.  We wrongly assume that if someone is driving an expensive car and lives in the most posh part of town that he is happy and ‘has it all’. But what we will come to better understand and what you may already know or sense is that the ‘All’ can’t be bought, yet the ‘All’ that we desire and yearn for is not unobtainable.

Accessing the ‘All’ defies status, culture and race.  The ‘All’, the thing that brings clarity, vision, and empathy is the same thing that creates fulfillment and provides the missing piece of the puzzle we are all in search of.

Different cultures and religions both ancient and contemporary have referred to this force within us and it’s concepts may not be so far removed from our understanding as we might think.

Spirit Energy. Life Force. Soul Consciousness. Quintessence.  Intuition. Whatever you want to call it and however it’s been referred to throughout the ages, it is here to stay and it’s still just as powerful as it’s ever been.

Imagine having a key that has the potential to open any door imaginable.  A key that when used eliminates negative feelings and gives meaning to your life.  The spark of spirit energy within each of us is that key.

This book is a roadmap that will illustrate how paths taken and systems of belief can lead to success and happiness or abject failure.  I’ve been on both sides.
