The Truth About Self-Deception

THE TRUTH ABOUT SELF-DECEPTION. The difficulty with self-deception is that even if we know we are deluding ourselves it is incredibly hard to accept because the cause of much of our delusions got their start by believing in something that had been passed on to us by people we love and/or trusted–these people wear many hats. And it’s not that they all did this deliberately, but it shows how deep self-deception goes and how it can easily morph into delusion.

Once we’ve accepted something as an absolute truth it creates a blockage that makes it extremely difficult to overcome and by that I mean, it does not allow for balance in your life. Instead of seeing that there is Strength in compromise, you may feel a nagging incompatibility due to a lack of Temperance–an imbalance resulting from expecting everyone to see things your way.
People who self-deceive, will undoubtedly at some point ask, “Why won’t this work? Why won’t anyone listen and why does this shit keep happening to me?” And the answer is because you refuse to understand that your extreme or stubborn way of thinking cannot exist without its polar opposite and that if you’re looking for real love or respect, that can only come when you consciously allow conditioned beliefs to air out and consider the possibility that there is more than one truth.

The Truth About The Devil

THE DEVIL & HAPPINESS. I went to sleep last night with the intention of finding answers to share with you about the secrets of Happiness and the response I got this morning was a message about…The Devil. Such are the mysteries of understanding and gaining knowledge.

The ignorance I will mention now is the blindness to the powers we each have within us and a belief that happiness is something you can only obtain through material gains or power over others. It is the belief that we are bound to worthless garbage as a necessity to living a successful and boastful life. The use and glorification of dark symbolism, as cool as some may be conditioned to think it is, in reality only glorifies the oppression of the human spirit and our potential. The pentagram may represent Man, but the inverted pentagram denies the power of man’s place in the universe–it encourages bondage to something other than himself. .

Happily, The Devil card represents the beginning of a conscious awareness to our self imposed enslavement by the physical, the purely sense-oriented things that are only distractions of life. Happiness is letting go of the superficial and consciously bitch-slapping temptation out of your life. It means letting go of the struggle to maintain a self-important position. Once accomplished, a reality that had once been shrouded in glittery darkness will start to reveal where the true happiness lies.

The Calamity In Our Lives

THE TRUTH ABOUT CHAOS.
Chaos and calamity can come in many forms and I think it’s worth mentioning right now because it’s come up in several client readings lately which, to me, reveals something that is more pervasive than we might imagine. This goes beyond our views on politics, social issues or how the media makes us feel and react to their spin on reality–the emotional responses we express from external things serves only as a distraction from healing and understanding our internal chaos.

It’s obvious that people have taken on issues and causes in warrior like fashion because they ARE angry, only much of what ails us resides deep inside and we can never get to fixing it because we are offered so many other options to vent our anger. We see the world as a chaotic and unfair place that we think we need to fix, when in fact, the external calamities will fade when and if we are able to work on ourselves first.  Consider the source of our dark responses and the heaviness associated with it, only then will its intensity let up and the lightness you feel inside will outshine the darkness imposed on us in the manipulative matrix.

Forcing A Creative Environment

Glitch4reup.gif

If you’ve been following along here or Instagram, you are aware of my Photos From The Matrix project. For the past six months I’ve been photographing myself in grocery stores and other places of business to assist me in elaborating on the idea of seperation from nature, immersion in the artificial and the importance we put on our digital selves. I think some of you just thought I enjoyed standing motionless in grocery stores!

MT35

These self-portraits allow me to create a glitch in the system. It is how I can pop a bubble of illusion simply by blending into it instead of imagining that I am separate from it. It’s like a sudden penetrating heat that cracks ice or pops a kernel of corn and turns it into something soft and fluffy. It’s about seeing patterns and creating new ones.

I find myself expressing these things because this is how I feel, this is what I see and this is the discomfort I experience when I am increasingly encroached upon by the unnatural. If there is a takeaway to all of this it’s this, If I can see and feel something that is corroding my sensibilities, obscuring my individual light of creativity, and discouraging personal growth–then everyone can. If you think you can’t you have to ask yourself why?

CompositeGlitch3

This is one way that I have taken a personal stand against certain forces and systems that I do not believe in or that I don’t want to take part in. It has helped to keep me thinking as an individual and to live life in a way where I am able to give back honestly and of myself. It reminds me of what matters, what’s good for me and how we need to make an effort to create things of beauty and to reject what makes us less than what we are.

ANIMATEGLITCH01

How do YOU push back against a system that would rather suppress your individual voice and creativity? Getting to the core of our creative being is not always easy. My book Toxic Rainbows explains how I did it and offers a pathwork that opens the doors of possibility to anyone ready to do the work involved.

Fear and Self Loathing

memeSELFLOATHING
Fear is the driving force that inspires most things in our lives.
Fear is so powerful that it controls almost all the things that we do and the ways in which we think. It’s incredible to imagine that something with so much power to inspire is the kryptonite that cripples us.

Fear is the thing that prevents us from knowing our truth. It allows us to cling to old ideas and beliefs in order to maintain a paradigm that does not serve us, but keeps us comfortably numb. This fear and self-denial becomes the cornerstone of a life built on misrepresentation. Avoidance by fear obscures pathways that lead to overcoming pain and suffering —the same suffering that we choose to believe doesn’t exist.

Fear is at the core of our issues relating to denial, bullying, and self-loathing. It is usually the reason why we choose blame over trying to understand why we react in the ways that we do. The subconscious reason for blame is a fear in confronting our own failings and having to admit self-deception. We desperately avoid situations that will lead to the discovery that we are the cause of our own suffering—this is the root of fear.

For more insights and pathways that lead to a greater understanding of self, look for my book Toxic Rainbows.

About the photo: The photo memes I create address topics of communication breakdown and other concepts which are deeply tied to our post-internet lives.  These and other issues are discussed at  more length in my book.  More ideas and memes can be seen on my Instagram account.

Best Self Help Books For Men

bestselfhelpbooks

We all know how difficult it is to get some men to do things like going to the doctor, admitting a mistake or…gasp…read a Self Help book!  I know this is a generalization, but just as women are known to be more intuitive, some men just don’t want to admit or show weakness by browsing the self-help section.  But the truth is that making those first steps at improving ourselves is a great sign of strength and an improvement in itself.

A wonderful list of the ‘Best Self Help Books For Men’ was compiled by self improvement website Upjourney and my choices along with my book, Toxic Rainbows was included on the truly inspired list.

From my review:

Lucio focuses on issues that both deceive and weigh heavily on men, perception and the expectations imposed on them by others.

The book takes on a philosophical and sociological approach steeped in reason in order to grasp, then overcome our self-imposed failings. Men may appreciate the no-exit approach to this self-help book and be eager for the challenge.

The book also gives a welcome opportunity for men to see how their hidden talents have been obscured and offers an opening to pursue their dreams in a fresh and energetic way that leaves little room for negative influence.

Connecting with what the author calls Creative Self Expression, the individual is then in a position to answer hard questions like, “What is my purpose?” and to finally understand how he controls the meaning and rewards offered in his life.

Medication as a Way of Life

I understand that there are a lot of people out there who suffer varying degrees of pain, whether it be in the form of anxiety, depression, or self-esteem. I like to remind people that we need to feel our pain and that medication is not always the thing that will get us through our problems. Yes, in the short term it may cover over the pain, but what happens when the medication wears off? Are we to quickly accept the idea of a lifetime of prescription refills?

MT23

Obviously, our medical options and medicines are essential and they save lives every day, but on the other hand, we are made to feel and experience pain. We are built to overcome. We are made to learn and discover who we are and pain is part of that process.  I won’t even try to comprehend or connect the multitude of dots that correspond with the miseries associated with mixing medication and the side effects and abuses that meds take on the human body. It’s bad–and as miraculous as our bodies are, it can’t fight a battle where our medications are literally tricking it into behaving abnormally, creating feelings of loneliness and even suicide.

I am not a medical doctor and have no authority when it comes to prescription medicines, but I’ve noticed something disturbing when sometimes talking with clients and even friends and that is that I often feel like I’m not actually talking with the person, but with the side effects of medication.

The issue of prescription drug abuse/use and the alarming manner in which they are prescribed is disturbing to me, particularly because everything I write about, all of the exercises and manner in which I try to nudge people into taking charge of their lives is pointless if we are deadened by meds. We simply can’t discover our true selves and our true nature when our emotions and thoughts are clouded over by the effects of being overly medicated.

My suggestion is to get a second opinion and think twice about whether you think you can or cannot overcome a ‘problem’ in your life through medication. Consider holistic approaches, acupuncture, meditation, or even hypnosis. I’m don’t have kids, but I know I would try other options before setting them on a lifelong path of medicating, particularly where meds are presented as the only solution to problems that are common to every day life.

Just today in a grocery store, a voice on the loudspeaker used fear mongering to pressure shoppers into getting TWO ‘Free’ flu shots because it’s the ‘season’ and pneumonia, well…you might get it.  Is it really the ‘season’? If so, why were we pushed to get flu shots all summer long? Is anything ever really ‘free’? The fear, paranoia, and pressure blinds us to how we even really feel.  Stop, listen to yourself. Sometimes you are the real professional when it comes to yourself.

BOOK RELEASE! Toxic Rainbows out now!

MATRIXTHOUGHTS01

I’m very happy to announce the release of my first book, Toxic Rainbows.

I have so many feelings and thoughts associated with what I’ve written that I struggle with even giving it an elevator pitch that does it justice.  It’s philosophical, psychological, spiritual, autobiographical–it’s a manual for gaining clarity in a world that is designed to distract and distort perception.

As I wrote, I realized that I had been keeping mental notes my whole life on what I had been learning, observing and understanding about myself and human nature. The pain and confusion I saw around me compelled me to further understand why so many were in a delusional loop of cognitive dissonance and selective outrage. What had happened?

For years I had been slowly moving toward a life of spirit and nature and attempting to understand the meaning of faith.  But when my life dramatically cracked open and I was faced with a life and death situation, everything I had questioned and wondered about was revealed to me and I was given all the answers I sought.

The awakening I experienced allowed me to see my past, future and the world around me with much more clarity and I finally understood the meaning and feelings of faith.

Toxic Rainbows is available on Amazon.

Toxic Rainbows – Fall 2018 Release

ToxicRainbows Book
Toxic Rainbows coming in Fall 2018.

Toxic Rainbows is a book I had no intention of writing, but it came out of necessity.  It wrote itself after a few years of self-reflection and contemplation of how as a society we are to function spiritually in a world where spiritual transformation plateaus with a hollow meme or a proficiency at yoga.

I am a Generation X writer with the perspective of having experienced life pre- and post-internet. The remarkable experience for some of us was watching life unfold as a veil of delusion was constructed around us. We have the capacity for second sight because we can see the realities of two worlds, the truth and a manufactured delusion.

The delusion, often referred to as The Matrix, suffocated, obscured and redefined words and reality as we knew them. An ever creeping and pervasive artificiality and disconnection was my inspiration in seeking answers to life’s most enduring questions which led to my studying works of an esoteric nature, psychology, philosophy and religion.

Toxic Rainbows is based on my experience of growing up outside of a system we are now mired in, entering into it and finally extricating myself from it by understanding how I became a part of the system and how we had become enslaved by it.

Toxic Rainbows is a book about awareness and self discovery that offers revelations and sometimes unpleasant truth that pertains to everyone. It is a manual for escape and a guide for obtainng the joy and freedoms that are missing from so many of our lives. It’s an alternate route to a much better Oz, a place where true enlightenment can be obtained without fear of falling victim to the falseness that surrounds us or the trappings of the faux New Age.

Follow my blog for excerpts and news on the book release. I will also be posting updates to Instagram.

Toxic Rainbows, ebook releasing in Fall 2018.

The True Way To Accessing Your Natural Ability and Potential

Last night before I turned out my light, I contemplated the idea of potential and natural ability. What is it that drives us? What are the things that we gravitate to that are inspired by our own desires and not of the influences forced upon us? How do we truly flourish when we feel others should come before us? Or if we take credit for something we didn’t actually do or express a thought that didn’t come from our own mind?

How DO we access our true potential without giving in to pressures or taking an easy way out to obtain limited or imagined success? By this I mean, when we limit our potential by following a dream that is not our own or when we go along with ‘the plan’ because we don’t want to rock the boat–that is, when we function only as a contributor to someone else’s potential and success and not our own. It may feel good to be part of the ‘team’, but as individual creators it does not serve us.

With these thoughts in mind, I did a reading to gain more clarity and answers for people who may be struggling with this issue. Firstly, we need to understand ourselves and know precisely what it is we desire to accomplish. What actions need to be taken to reach our full potential?

The cards offered a remarkable response.

DSC03793

To access our natural ability and harness our true potential, we need to think like The Hanged Man.

The Hanged Man tells us that there is an inner peace, serenity and happiness in being misunderstood. He is content in knowing that he is furthering his own agenda and spiritual growth by following what his heart tells him.

The Hanged Man is not distressed by how others perceive him. Though he may be ridiculed, shunned, shamed and ostricized, he does not allow himself to be swayed or pressured out of his own beliefs. He is okay being the butt of a joke because he knows he is doing what is right for himself whether others understand him or not.

The Hanged Man’s peace comes from being true, sincere and authentic.

Once we can appreciate the serenity that comes with sometimes being misunderstood, wisdom will come from the experience that is obtained by cutting our cords of attachment to things that no longer serve us.

Temperance is about balancing what is in our hearts and our minds.  We can obtain equilibrium by giving to others, but we need to give to ourselves as well to maintain balance.

DSC03792

Most telling about this reading is the appearance of the three cards above. They are the only three cards in the entire deck that have someone turned fully around and walking away. These three are in step and actively leaving the scene.

If we are to allow our nature to blossom and tap into our full potential, we must not allow the the words of others to stop us. We can’t always expect others to help us in our endeavors and we can’t expect even loved ones to side with us.

DSC03791We need to walk away from people and situations that are not in alignment with our desires. We have to know that the extra work, dissenting voices and even times of loneliness are all contributing to what is best for us. It gives us strength, fortitude and eventually, the calm of The Hanged Man.

And in the end, we don’t even need to say “I told you so.” because people will know who was correct all along.
